J.R. Filanc Construction Engineering & Management (CEM) Program
The J.R. Filanc Construction Engineering & Management (CEM) Program in the College of Engineering is home to California's only program to offer Construction Engineering and Construction Management majors. The program was named by the Filanc family in 2006, and maintains strong connections with local industry and alumni who provide professional and philanthropic support to students and faculty.

Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering Department
The three majors offered by the Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering Department directly affect the well being, health and safety of all citizens as students learn to design and supervise the construction of buildings, dams, transportation systems, and water and wastewater facilities. Gifts to the Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering Department are utilized at the discretion of the Dean and Department Chair.

Beavers Lectureship in Heavy Construction
The Beavers Charitable Trust showed a strong commitment to the JRFCEM Program by supporting the campaign for the Jim Ryan Chair in Construction Management, and most recently to establish an endowed lecturer position in Heavy Construction. The Program currently has a number of disciplines that support the Heavy Civil sector, and this position will strengthen our ties with the Heavy Civil industry and provide much needed support to our faculty.
This position will be formally awarded in the Fall 2024.

Gifts to the CEM Hard Hat Campaign Fund honors the program's tradition of providing CEM graduates with a hard hat to wear at graduation

Women in Construction
Women in Construction offers a space for students to explore the various facets of the construction engineering industry in a supportive and open environment. Students involved in this organization have the opportunoty to visit construction sites, netowrk with industry professionals, and collaborate with fellow students.
